Russian Deputy PM Mutko expects Russian athletics federation to be reinstated as IAAF member by spring 2017

MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko expects that the All-Russia Athletic Federation (RusAF) will be reinstated as a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) before spring 2017.

"I hope our athletics [federation] should be reinstated by the spring qualification competitions and the world championship to be held in London in 2017," Mutko told journalists in reply to a question from Interfax on Thursday.

Mutko said he did not see any serious reasons preventing the RusAF's reinstatement as an IAAF member.

"I think this will be done, it will be reinstated, all criteria are being met, and people are working. Perhaps it simply has to take some time," he added.
