Russia brings grain exports practically level with last year in July-Nov - expert

MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - In July-November of this year, Russia practically brought grain exports level with last year, and the exports of wheat and corn exceeded last year's level.

Deputy director of CJSC Rusagrotrans' strategic marketing department Igor Pavensky said that in November 2016 that according to preliminary data, a record-breaking 3.95 million tonnes of grain were exported, which is 26% higher than the figure for November of last year. "As a result exports since the start of the season (July-November) will amount to about 17.72 million tonnes of grain against 17.92 million tonnes in July-November 2015, wheat exports will reach about 13.55 million tonnes, which is 0.15 million tonnes more than a year ago," the expert said.

He said that since October corn has been exported at record rates, corn exports were about 1.96 million tonnes in July-November, which is 50% more than the record figure of the previous season.

Pavensky said that barley exports were substantially lower than the figure for last year: 1.6 milliion tonnes, which is 44% lower than the figure for July-November 2015.

He said that the rise in total exports was facilitated by the ruble's depreciation and the increase in export prices, which began in October.

For November, due to the substantial exports of corn, Russian carried out grain exports through deep water ports to major buyers of Russian grain, including to "exotic" countries for Russia, such as Japan and Vietnam, the expert said.
