Russia to facilitate Korean Peninsula's denuclearization, seek drop in confrontation level

MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Russia will seek to reduce of the level of confrontation and ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

"Russia is interested in maintaining traditionally friendly relations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea, and will seek a decline in the level of confrontation, easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula, as well as the achievement of reconciliation and development of inter-Korean cooperation through the development of political dialogue," the Concept of the Russian Foreign Policy, which was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin's decree, said.

"Russia is invariably calling for the nuclear-free status of the Korean Peninsula and will facilitate its denuclearization in every possible way, assuming that the method of achieving this goal is six-party talks," the document, which was published on the official online legal information portal on Thursday, said.
