Rail freight tariff indexation to be increased by up to 2% in 2017
MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax) - Rail freight tariffs in 2017 will be additionally indexed by as much as 2%, to a total of 4%, although the additional amount will not be included in the indexation basis for 2018, according to the protocol of a meeting Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev held on Friday that has been viewed by Interfax.
The targeted supplement is for capital repairs to infrastructure. The government commission on transportation chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich will oversee use of the funds. The Transport Ministry, Economic Development Ministry and Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) have been given until December 7 to present proposals concerning the specific size of the additional indexation.
The Transport Ministry is proposing the maximum value for the additional indexation, 2%.
"Two percent," the head of the Transport Ministry's department for state policy in the rail transport area Vyacheslav Petrenko told Interfax on the sidelines of a transport services market conference on Wednesday.
The overall tariff indexation in 2017 will be set at 4%, and the maximum indexation within the tariff corridor will be lowered to 10% in 2017-2019 from 13.4% "with differentiated application of scale-up factors by freight type depending on the price situation on global markets."
