Lavrov hopes cooperation with Turkey on Syria will be more productive than with U.S.
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is hopeful that cooperation with Turkey as part of efforts to settle the situation in Syria, in particular the city of Aleppo, will be productive.
"We are starting to reach common understandings. And maybe this channel of cooperation will be more productive than the channel with the Americans," Lavrov said at a press conference in Hamburg.
Lavrov also said he doubted that the United States was able to fully influence groups active in eastern Aleppo.
"Certain countries in the region are influencing them. We know that for certain. We are working with all of these countries, including Turkey," he said.
