Russia has to trade amid tough competition, even dishonest behavior from some of its partners - Putin
MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - Russia encounters cases of dishonest competition on the part of some of its partners on the world arms market, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Our country confidently ranks second in the world in this area. In the top five, we are ahead of France, Germany and Britain. Concurrently, we operate under traditionally tough competitive conditions and at times even face dishonest behavior from some of our partners," Putin said at a meeting of the commission for military-technical cooperation with foreign states.
Among the main trends on the global arms market is the reduction of defense spending due to the economic difficulties and the growing activity of new arms suppliers, the president said.
"And, finally, the shift of customers' interest from buying ready models to modern developments and production with subsequent maintenance on one's own territory," he said.
"We are trying to take all these factors into account, offering customers buying Russian weapons and military equipment the optimal price to quality ratio, reliability and simplicity in use, as well as high efficiency during real use in combat," the Russian president said.
