Kazakh and Uzbek leaders say it is important to further intensify bilateral cooperation

ASTANA. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation, the Kazakh presidential press service said.

Mirziyoyev congratulated Nazarbayev on the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence and wished further prosperity to the Kazakh people, the press service said in a report published on the Kazakh president's website.

Nazarbayev, for his part, congratulated Mirziyoyev on his inauguration as president of Uzbekistan.

"The leaders of the two countries also discussed the current state of bilateral relations and their prospects, noting the importance of continuing to intensify Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation," it said.

The phone call took place at Uzbekistan's initiative.
