NATO-Russia Council meeting attendees discuss recent exercises

BRUSSELS. Dec 19 (Interfax) - NATO and Russian representatives have exchanged information regarding military exercises at a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC), NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after the meeting on Monday.

"Russia also gave us a briefing on the recent KAVKAZ-2016 exercise. And NATO gave a presentation on Exercise Trident Juncture 2016," according to a statement released on Stoltenberg's behalf after the meeting.

"Allies raised particular concern over the excessive use of snap exercises. These are destabilising, and do not improve the overall climate of our relations," he said.

"Transparency on military exercises is essential," the NATO chief said.
