Gazprom exports 179.2 bcm of gas to non-FSU countries in 2016 - source
MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - Gazprom has exported 179.2 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to non-FSU countries in 2016, up from 159.4 bcm in 2015, a source with knowledge of the situation told Interfax.
On Thursday, approximately the same figure was announced by Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller at a yearend conference call: "We set record figures for gas supplies to non-FSU countries. On November 29, 2016 Gazprom's daily gas supply to these markets amounted to 614.5 million cubic meters (mcm). There was no such case during the Soviet period, never in the history of modern Russia. And we reached absolutely record figures for export gas supplies for the year. For the non-FSU countries, this year, it is possible to say practically the same, supply volume will amount to more than 179 bcm of gas. This is a historic high. In total, we are increasing gas supplies for export to non-FSU countries this year by 12%," Miller said.
"The supply subsequently will rise for our major consumers in Europe. In particular, here I would like to note Germany. Gas supplies to Germany for this year are approaching 50 bcm. For now, the transactions figure is 49.8 bcm," he said.
Miller also expressed confidence that the company will increase supplies to the domestic market: "We also successfully worked as well on the domestic market. Supplies to it are rising. This speaks to the fact that we are focusing on our consumers, and these are the major branches and sectors of the Russian company, subsequent gradual growth."
"According to operating data as at this morning, Nord Stream is filled by even more than 100% [102%-101%]. We are supplying more than 150 mcm [152 mcm] of gas a day through this gas pipeline. And the fact that consumption among countries, which are our key partners, is rising, still confirms that Nord Stream 2 is extremely popular for European markets," Miller said.
He said that work continued on implementing the TurkStream project. "Permits and agreements were received, and in H2 2017 we will begin laying pipes in the Black Sea. In 2016, the construction on Russia territory of capacities for transferring 31.5 bcm of gas to TurkStream was fully completed. This concerns compressor stations as well. That is, Russia's readiness for gas supplies via TurkStream after our work in 2016 is 100%," Miller said.
