Russian Foreign Ministry: U.S. did everything to complicate Russian diplomats' life during their expulsion

MOSCOW. Dec 30 (Interfax) - The U.S. administration did everything to complicate the life of Russian diplomats and their families when expelling them, Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova said.

"We are talking not only about Russian diplomats, but also about their families, children of school and preschool age. Our citizens, who have worked in the U.S. for various periods of time - there are people who have worked for several years and some have worked for several months - are required to collect all necessary things, collect the children, collect the documents, close their accounts within a very short period of time, by January 1. We are talking about the period before the New Year holidays, the period of Christmas holidays in the U.S.," Zakharova told reporters.

"We are especially concerned about the fact that children, schoolchildren are uprooted from the education process and will have to come to Russia and, accordingly, resume the education process within a very short period of time. No one in Washington thought about that. It's sad if they thought and still decided to do things in a way to complicate the life of our diplomats and their families as much as possible," she said

Additionally, it will be very difficult for the diplomats to leave the U.S. logistically.

"Huge questions have arisen about the way the Russian diplomats should leave the territory from the point of view of the U.S. administration, because, as we know very well, it's impossible to buy tickets before the New Year holidays, let alone that direct flights from Washington to Moscow only begin on January 2," she said.
