Over 60 people express wish to lead Ukrainian police
KYIV. Jan 9 (Interfax) - The deadline for applications for an advisory competition for the position of the head of Ukrainian National Police is over, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said.
"The acceptance of applications for the advisory competition for Ukrainian National Police chief is over. We have received 64 applications, with which the competition commission is beginning to work," Avakov wrote on Twitter on Monday.
It was reported that on December 15 the Interior Ministry announced an advisory competition for Ukrainian National Police chief. The competition is open both to police officers and anyone who meets the criteria. The competition will be conducted by an advisory selective commission.
Among the basic requirements for candidates: being generally in compliance with conditions for work in the police, a full law degree, at least seven years of work experience in the field of law, and at least five years in a managerial position. Among basic personal and professional parameters are: honesty, impeccable reputation, motivation, lack of political bias, and so on. For initial participation in the competition one needed to file a CV and a letter of motivation.
Documents were accepted up to January 8, 2017, inclusively. Avakov expressed hope that by mid-February Ukraine will have elected and appointed a new head of National Police.
On November 14 Khatia Dekanoidze announced her resignation as National Police chief. The interior minister accepted her resignation. First deputy chief Vadym Troyan is currently acting chief of the Ukrainian National Police.
