Syrian opposition members visiting Moscow say they are ready to go to Astana

MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Syrian opposition members who have arrived in Moscow for consultations are ready to attend the intra-Syrian meeting in the Kazakh capital Astana, former general of the Syrian Armed Forces Mustafa al-Sheikh, who heads the Syrian opposition delegation on its visit to Moscow, said.

"I am not very well familiar with the political platforms. The first point is a ceasefire. I support it. If our presence at the conference in Astana is useful, we will attend it," he said at a press conference on Friday.

The intra-Syrian talks of Syrian government representatives, the opposition and the United Nations are expected to be held in Astana on January 23.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with his Kazakh and Turkish counterparts as part of preparations for this meeting.
