Opposition activist Navalny says ECHR to hand down judgments on some of his appeals on Feb 2

MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Prominent Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny says the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) is set to hand down judgments on some of his appeals against his detentions on February 2, 2017.

"A letter from the European Court came this morning, saying that judgments on six of my appeals against illegal detentions and arrests will be handed down on February 2," Navalny said on his blog on Saturday.

In particular, Navalny said these appeals concerned his detention and arrest during public festivities on May 9, 2012, the dispersal of a rally on March 5, 2012, pickets against torture, and arrests on February 24, 2014, on the day when the first sentence was handed down on the case dealing with May 6, 2012 unrest on Bolotnaya Square.
