German military inspectors to inspect regiment of new motorized infantry division in Voronezh region - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax-AVN) - German military inspectors will visit the 252nd motorized infantry regiment based in Boguchar, Voronezh region, on January 16-19, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The purpose of the visit is to verify the information Russia provided earlier about its military forces and plans to deploy main weapon systems and military hardware for this regiment," Sergei Ryzhkov, head of Russia's National Nuclear Risk Reduction Center, told journalists.
The military assessment visit will take place under the 2011 Vienna Document on confidence-building and security measures, he said.
Earlier the Russian Defense Ministry said that it was forming a Third Motorized Infantry Division with headquarters in Boguchar, Voronezh region. The work is due to be completed in May 2017.
The inspectors will be provided with "a briefing containing information about the regiment, as well as an opportunity to see the personnel and main weapon systems of the regiment during the visit," Ryzhkov said.
Late last year the Defense Ministry said that a rapid block-modular military town and a number of other military and social infrastructure sites had already been built in Boguchar.
