Patrushev hopes for constructive contact with U.S. this year in fighting terrorism

MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia hopes to be able to establish constructive contact with the United States in 2017 to fight international terrorism, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said.

"Regrettably, the administration of [U.S. President] Barack Obama did more talking than cooperating with us. Eventually, this reduced the efficiency of counterterrorist cooperation with the U.S. to a naught. We hope, however, that in 2017 we will manage to establish constructive contact with our U.S. partners," Patrushev said in an interview to be published in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper on Monday.

"Certainly, it remains vital to advance the Russian Federation president's initiative to form a broad international anti-terrorist coalition with global coverage," the Security Council secretary said.
