Most Moldovan citizens stand for integration into EAEU, holding of early parliamentary elections - poll

CHISINAU. Jan 16 (Interfax) - President Igor Dodon enjoys the highest trust by citizens of the republic among Moldovan politicians and among political forces - the Party of Socialists, which he has headed before the election to the post of the head of state, the findings of the sociological public poll dedicated to the 2016 year in the opinion of Moldovan residents indicate.

According to the public poll findings, 49% of respondents trust Dodon (17% trust him completely, 32% to a certain extent). He is followed by the Action and Solidarity Party's chairwoman Maia Sandu, who is trusted by 34%, the Platform DA Party's chairman Andrei Nestase - 30%, the Party of Communists chairman Vladimir Voronin is trusted by 27% of those surveyed, the Our Party leader Renato Usatii - 22%, the same percentage believe to the new chairwoman of the Party of Socialists Zinaida Greceanii. Further follows the European People's Party chairman Iurie Leanca and former chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu - 21% each, Prime Minister Pavel Filip - 20%, parliamentary speaker Andrian Candu - 18%.

Meanwhile, the real confidence rating of all politicians is twice lower, because 39% of respondents said that believe no politicians, and 10% refused to answer this question.

The Party of Socialists leads among parties, having the trust of 39% of those surveyed. As many as 27% trust the Platform DA party, the Action and Solidarity Party - 24%, Our Party - 20%, the Democratic Party - 15%, the Party of Communists - 14%.

If the parliamentary elections were to be held next Sunday, 37.8% (among those who made up their mind regarding their choice and know for whom to vote - 48.9%) were ready to vote for the Party of Socialists, for DA Platform - 9.2% (11.9%), for the Action and Solidarity Party - 8.7% (11.2%), for the Democratic Party - 7.2% (9.3%), for Our Party - 6.1% (7.9%), for the Party of Communists - 2.9% (3.7%). According to the poll data, 17% are undecided, 6% are not going to take part in the elections.

According to the poll findings, 55% of citizens are positive about the idea of holding early parliamentary elections in 2017, while a little bit less than 30% perceive that negatively. As many as 60% of respondents are ready to participate in parliamentary elections.

If a referendum determining the vector of Moldova's foreign policy had been held, 38.5% would have voted for integration into the European Union, 41.1% - in the Eurasian Union. Meanwhile, 13% wound be undecided, and 7% would not take part in such a referendum.

The Moldovan Association of Sociologists and Demographers conducted the opinion poll on January 2-10, 2017. The poll involved 1,179 respondents in 76 populated localities, the margin error amounts to 3%.
