Belarus ready to get involved in development of Sudan's industry, infrastructure - Lukashenko

MINSK. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Sudan has become one of the most important partners for Belarus on the African continent, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at talks with Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir on Tuesday.

"I am glad that relations between the two countries have acquired a new quality over the past years," the press service quoted the head of state as saying.

Belarus is ready to engage in industry and infrastructure development projects in Sudan, Lukashenko said at the talks.

"We already have reliable partners for export of agricultural and freight equipment. Common points have been discovered in the agrarian and defense spheres. Meanwhile, much more is yet to be done. Our task is to substantiate the high level of political trust with economic results," the head of state said.

The Belarusian side will consider any options of involvement in projects related to the development of Sudan's industry and infrastructure, the president said.
