Russian ombudsman describes ECHR judgment regarding ban on Russian children's adoption by U.S. citizens as 'very measured'
MOSCOW. Jan 18 (Interfax) - Russian Human Rights Ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova sees the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) judgment, which pronounced the ban on Russian children's adoption by U.S. citizens unlawful, as measured.
"We have discussed the very measured ECHR judgment on the Dima Yakovlev Law with the ECHR's Russian Judge Dmitry Dedov," Moskalkova said on Instagram after a meeting with ECHR President Guido Raimondi.
She said they had also discussed problems in the ECHR processing of appeals filed by Russian citizens, such as protracted proceedings and a lack of transparency in the court's activity.
On Tuesday, the European Court of Human Rights declared the ban on Russian children's adoption by U.S. citizens, which had been imposed by the Dima Yakovlev Law, unlawful.
