ST. PETERSBURG. Jan 19 (Interfax) - The Russian Constitutional Court has arrived at a conclusion that the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)'s judgment awarding 1.8 billion euros worth damages to former Yukos shareholders cannot be enforced.

"For this reason, it is impossible to enforce in compliance with the constitution the European Court of Human Rights' judgment dated July 31, 2014, in the Yukos vs. Russia case, based on Article 1, Protocol 1 of the Convention as interpreted by the European court in the part compelling Russia to reimburse former shareholders of the claimant company for the penalties collected for 2000 and 2001 and the penalty enforcement fee at an amount of 1,299,324,098 euros," the Russian Constitutional Court said in a resolution read out by its Chairman Valery Zorkin on Thursday.
