Weapons, extremist literature seized from three Tajik men in Stavropol Territory
STAVROPOL. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Law enforcement officials have detained three armed men from Central Asian republics in the city of Yessentuki, Stavropol Territory, the press service for the Interior Ministry's Main Department for the Northern Caucasus federal District said.
"A pistol with a magazine case containing five cartridges and a grenade were found on them. A search of the house where the detainees lived yielded three TNT pellets, over 50 cartridges, mobile phones and SIM cards," the report said.
The necessary investigative actions are being conducted. A comprehensive evaluation has been ordered and a criminal case may be opened, the press release said.
One of the detainees engaged in robbery on the territory of the Stavropol Territory in 2011. He was convicted and was deported to his homeland after serving his term. He later changed his name and again came to Russia.
A source in the region's law enforcement structures told Interfax the detainees are native Tajiks. Besides weapons, extremist literature was found in their residence.
