Ukrainian nationalists marching through govt district in Kyiv

KYIV. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Nearly 100 members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), Right Sector (outlawed in Russia) and White Hammer are conducting a march in commemoration of the Maidan events that took place three years ago in central Kyiv on Thursday evening.

After the rally on the Independence Square, which the activists have held earlier on Thursday, the participants to the action started a march in the direction of the government district on the Hrushevsky street.

The fire crackers are blowing up in the mob from time to time during the march; the activists are carrying burning flares in the frontline of the column. Several participants to the march are carrying car tires and the Molotov cocktails, which they are going to burn up symbolically on the walkway near the Ukrainian government building.

The action is being escorted by a large number of law enforcers, as well as a team of firemen in fire-proof jackets from the Ukrainian Emergency Situations State Service.

Over 1,100 policemen and Ukrainian National Guard's servicemen are on alert in central Kyiv during the Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada meetings and the holding of mass events until January 20, the Kyiv police communications department said on January 18.

"To prevent violations of public order during the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada meeting and the holding of events involving many people employees of the structural departments of the capital's police, Kyiv patrol police and the National Guard servicemen are being alerted," the Kyiv police said.

The capital's police main department also urged people to observe the rules of conduct at public venues and not to break law and order.
