Former U.S. ambassador to Russia McFaul and Russian Senator Pushkov speak of division in U.S. elite over upcoming Trump inauguration
MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax) - Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul has agreed with Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov in that the inauguration of U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump is the most nervous one in the contemporary history of the U.S. and that the division in the U.S. ruling elite has reached its peak.
"The most nervous and tense inauguration in the contemporary history of the U.S. The passions and division in the U.S. ruling elite have reached their peak. It won't be easy for Trump," Pushkov said on Twitter on Friday.
"I agree," McFaul said on Twitter, responding to that.
The Trump inauguration ceremony will take place in Washington on Friday.
McFaul, who is now a professor at Stanford University, was an adviser to U.S. President Barack Obama and a close associate of Hillary Clinton, who lost the presidential election to Trump.
