Time, great effort needed to repair damage done to Russia-U.S. relations by Obama Administration- Lavrov

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - It will take a great deal of effort to repair the damage done to Russia-U.S. relations by the Obama Administration, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"It will definitely take time and great effort to repair the damage done to Russia-U.S. interaction under Barack Obama," Lavrov said in the State Duma's Government Hour on Wednesday.

"Yet, as President [Vladimir] Putin has said, we are ready to cover our part of the road in order to improve this relationship in the interest of our peoples, in the interest of global security and stability," he said.

"Moscow shares the declared attitude of U.S. President Donald Trump in favor of normalizing relations. Still, we will certainly be judging by deeds," Lavrov said.

"We are confident that national interests, decency and predictability will eventually make things right," Lavrov said.
