Local woman killed, 3 people injured in attacks on Donetsk, Makiivka - DPR
DONETSK. Jan 30 (Interfax) - A civilian was killed and another three suffered injuries in overnight attacks on Donetsk and Makiivka, the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said.
"An apartment building was hit in the Kyivskyi district of Donetsk, and gas mains were damaged, cutting off supply to 70 apartments. A woman was killed and three people were injured in Makiivka," a representative of the DPR Defense Ministry told the press.
The attack which inflicted casualties happened near Hospital No 5 in the Chervonohvardeiskyi District, he said.
A car maintenance workshop , a garage, a power transmission line, gas mains and a five-storey residential building have been damaged in the Kyivskyi district of Donetsk, he said.
Four homes were damaged in the Zaitseve neighborhood in the small hours of Monday, he said, adding "there were no casualties."
He also said that information about casualties was still being updated and the casualty rate might eventually go up.
The Ukrainian army fired mortars and heavy artillery all night long and tensions persisted in the Yasynuvata sector, he said.
The Donetsk outskirts are currently under attack, and the sound of explosions is audible in the northern part of the city, an Interfax correspondent reported.
