IPC takes non-constructive stance, not allowing Russians to compete at qualifiers ahead of 2018 Paralympic Games - Kolobkov
MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has demonstrated strange behavior when rejecting the proposal of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) on Monday and not permitting Russian athletes to compete at qualifying tournaments ahead of the 2018 Paralympics, Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov told Interfax.
"It is a very strange stance that the International Paralympic Committee has taken. It is non-constructive. My opinion is that the International Paralympic Committee doesn't serve those purposes for which it was once founded. Despite the constructive approach that the Russian Paralympic Committee shows and its proposals of cooperation, we receive this...," Kolobkov said.
It was reported on Monday that the IPC executive board rejected the proposal of the RPC regarding participation of Russian athletes in qualifying tournaments ahead of the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Paralympics.
