Kyiv breached not only Geneva Convention, but also all moral norms by its missile attack on Donetsk residential quarters - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - The attack on Donetsk by the Ukrainian army using heavy artillery is a violation of the Geneva Convention, Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova said.

"Donetsk came under massive fire from Ukrainian troops in the early hours of February 3. Dozens of strikes were delivered on residential quarters using heavy large-caliber weapons, including Uragan and Grad salvo-fire rocket systems. Several civilians were killed, some people were wounded. We want to draw your attention to the fact that there are children among the wounded," Zakharova told a briefing on Friday.

"There is no justification for this barbaric attack. By its actions Kyiv massively violated not only the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of August 12, 1949, but also all moral norms," Zakharova said.

"The weapons Kyiv is using are prohibited by the Minsk agreements," Zakharova said.
