Russia's Tu-22M3 long-range bombers strike on ISIL in Deir ez-Zor province in Syria - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Russian long-range Tupolev Tu-22M3 bombers carried out another strike on ISIL terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) facilities near the town of Al-Mayadin in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor on Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The targets were some large storage depots for ISIL terrorist ammunition and weapons. According to data received by objective control means, all the assigned targets were engaged," the ministry said.

Sukhoi Su-30SM and Su-35S fighter jets provided cover for the Tu-22M3 bombers, operating from the Hmeimim airfield, the ministry added.

"After the combat task was accomplished, all Russian warplanes returned to their home airfields," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
