National operator for radioactive waste management changes management

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Russian state corporation Rosatom has appointed Denis Yegorov as acting director of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) National Operator for Radioactive Waste Management (NO RWM), according to the operator's website.

Since 2012, Yegorov has worked as Deputy Director to develop the country's national system of radioactive waste management and in other corporate functions.

The national operator's previous director, Yury Polyakov, stepped down from the position on February 3, 2017.

The National Operator for Radioactive Waste Management carries out the final disposal of radioactive waste with the goal of removing potential risks and negative effects on the environment. The FSUE's investment program includes 30 sites in 18 Russian regions and seven federal districts to research possible locations for facilities for the final disposal of radioactive waste.
