Russia, NATO yet to discuss next NRC meeting, contacts with delegations ongoing - Grushko
BRUSSELS. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Russian Permanent Representative to NATO Alexander Grushko underlined the importance of direct dialogue and said that the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) provided that opportunity.
"Any meeting needs to be prepared. We have yet to begin consultations on the next meeting. Yet contacts with delegations have been ongoing," he told Interfax in an interview in Brussels, answering a question about the forthcoming NRC meetings.
"It is important to have direct dialogue, primarily in the NATO-Russia Council format, because it allows us to exchange opinions on the situation and concerns and to better understand each other's motivation. However, the ability of these meetings to create 'added value' in respect of the deterrence of common threats and challenges would meet the interests of all Council members," he said.
