MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - While the time at which Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe could pay a return visit to Russia is still under consideration, his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin may take place at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in September, Russian Ambassador to Japan Yevgeny Afanasyev said in an interview with Interfax.
"The Russian president invited Shinzo Abe to pay a return visit to Russia at a mutually convenient time. Work is now being done to approve the visit's possible specific timeframe," Afanasyev said.
"It is also known that the Japanese prime minister plans to participate in the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in September 2017, where top-level negotiations are also expected to take place," the ambassador said.
Such a meeting will be officially announced by the presidential administration, Afanasyev said.
