Putin, Erdogan agree to boost coordination between armed forces in regard to antiterrorist operations in Syria - Kremlin
MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation on Thursday.
"The exchange of opinions on key aspects of the crisis situation in Syria in the context of the joint fight against international terror continued. Putin expressed condolences over the tragic incident in which several Turkish servicemen were killed near the town of el-Bab. It was agreed to boost coordination on the military side when conducting operations in Syria against militants of the ISIL [terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia] and other extremist organizations," the Kremlin press service said.
The counterparts considered realization of the results achieved at the International Meeting on Syria held recently in Astana with mediation of Russia, Turkey and Iran, Kremlin said. "They reaffirmed readiness to personally help further advancement of the Astana and Geneva-based Syrian settlement processes," it said.
"The [leaders] also discussed pressing issues regarding further Russian-Turkish cooperation in trade, economic and other spheres, including in the context of preparations for the two countries' High-Level Cooperation Council meeting planned for March of this year, ," the press service said.
