Russian railway freight haulage jumps 8.1% in January
MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Russia's railways carried 108.383 million tonnes of freight in January 2016, up 8.1% year-on-year, rail monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) said in materials, seen by Interfax.
Domestic shipments grew 3.7% year-on-year to 61.1 million tonnes, exports rose 12% to 39.4 million tonnes, imports grew 26.7% to 6.1 million tonnes and transit increased 32.5% to 1.8 million tonnes.
International shipments via Russian ports increased 10.4% to 25.8 million tonnes while shipments via border crossings grew 19.6% to 21.5 million tonnes.
