Ukrainian Defense Ministry says it fully controls situation in Avdiivka

KYIV. Feb 10 (Interfax) - The situation in the city of Avdiivka, the Donetsk region of Ukraine, remains difficult, but it is fully controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk said.

"As regards the situation in Avdiivka, it is difficult; at the same time, it is fully controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the local authorities. The military are in their positions and they are ready to rebuff the enemy in the event of any offensive actions," Motuzyanyk told said at a news briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

"The threat of an offensive exists not only in Avdiivka, but it may be registered on the contact line in the entire antiterrorist operation zone," he said.

"Our task is to reinforce our defense, strengthen the observation posts and be ready to rebuff," Motuzyanyk said.
