Russian Security Council Secretary Patrushev discusses military-technical cooperation in Phnom Penh

MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Military-technical cooperation and the fight against terrorism have been highlighted at the consultations held by Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev in Cambodia.

"The sides have discussed the perspective of military and military-technical cooperation and the interaction between law enforcement authorities and security services. An interest has been expressed in exchanging practices in the prevention of 'color revolutions' and the regulation of operations of foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs)," a spokesman for the Russian Security Service told Interfax on Tuesday.

Officials from the Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation and the Security Service's administration represented Russia at the consultations. The Cambodian delegation was headed Hun Manith, chief of Military Intelligence.

"The sides conferred on ways to boost anti-terrorist cooperation and to coordinate efforts in stopping the supply of weapons, ammunition and cash to terrorists. Cambodia was invited to join the International Anti-Terrorism Database operated by Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC)," he said.

"The sides definitively supported equal and undivided security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region, condemned any attempts to resolve problems by use of military force, and declared the right of every sovereign country to choose its foreign political development vector without foreign interference. Russia welcomed Cambodia's accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the capacity of dialogue partner and expressed hope for its enthusiastic involvement in practical SCO cooperation," he said.
