Single opposition delegation to attend intra-Syrian talks in Geneva yet to be formed - permanent representative Borodavkin
MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Moscow continues to facilitate the setting up of a single opposition delegation to attend the upcoming round of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva, but these efforts have yielded no outcomes yet, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva Alexei Borodavkin said.
"Russia has been undertaking efforts to help the opposition members find common language and unite into a common, single delegation for the talks in Geneva. This has unfortunately not been achieved yet," Borodavkin told Interfax on Tuesday.
"We will continue insistent attempts seeking that the opposition members achieve such a rapprochement finally," the high-ranking diplomat said.
Moscow still thinks that while molding an opposition delegation for the talks in Geneva "it should be not only a group of opposition members, which has been formed in Riyadh, but also the so-called Moscow, Astana, Cairo and Hmeimim groups," Borodavkin said.
"They also should be represented at the talks," the high-ranking Russian diplomat said.
