Yamal LNG project 75% complete, first stage 90% - Novak

MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - The Yamal LNG project is three-quarters complete, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said.

"General progress with the project is over 75% complete, and the first stage of the LNG plant around 88%," Novak said during a telephone conversation with Nur Bekri, Deputy Chairman of the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission and head of the Chinese National Energy Administration.

A timetable for upcoming bilateral contacts on energy issues was also discussed, a Russian Energy Ministry statement said.

In mid-November it was reported that the Yamal LNG project was 68% complete and the first stage was 85% ready.

The Yamal LNG project is being carried out on the Yamal Peninsula above the Arctic Circle at the Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye field. The $27-billion project involves the construction of three trains for liquefying gas with a capacity of 5.5 million tonnes of LNG each

The shareholders of Yamal LNG are Novatek with 50.1%, France's Total with 20%, China's CNPC with 20% and China's Silk Road Fund with 9.9%.
