Kazakh government considering price regulation of food staples
ASTANA. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The Kazakh government is considering imposing price caps for socially important food products, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kairat Aituganov said.
"We are now drafting a government decree to regulate prices for 33 food products, the main nutrition staples," Aituganov said at a Senate meeting on food security.
Food producers tend to lower prices for poultry, for instance, but retailers inflate them, he said.
