Putin praises efforts of security forces in 2016
MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - President Vladimir Putin has praised the efforts of Russian security forces in 2016.
"The indicators achieved last year are good and with positive dynamics," he said at a Federal Security Service (FSB) collegium meeting on Thursday.
He said he meant FSB efforts to counter terrorism and extremism, a series of successful counterintelligence operations, and resistance to economic crimes.
"The security of massive events, including elections to the State Duma and local governing bodies, was guaranteed at a high level," Putin said.
He thanked FSB personnel for a conscientious attitude to their work and strict fulfillment of tasks.
The president said the FSB plays a key role in protecting Russia's constitutional system and sovereignty, in safeguarding the public from domestic and foreign threats.
