Vietnamese president to visit Russia in June - Matviyenko

HANOI. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang will pay an official visit to Russia in June, Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said.

"An official visit of the Vietnamese president to Russia is due to take place in June," Matviyenko told reporters on Tuesday, during a visit of the Federation Council's delegation to Hanoi.

Vietnam is a major strategic partner of Russia, and the bilateral relations have been developing in various fields, she said.

Matviyenko met with Vietnamese Parliament Speaker Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan earlier on Tuesday. She said after the meeting they had agreed to foster inter-parliamentary and inter-regional cooperation and to interact in legal affairs.

A number of important agreements have gotten hung up in Russia and Vietnam, Matviyenko said, adding it was agreed to analyze the reasons why the documents had yet to be coordinated and to accelerate their signing.
