Russian truck convoy makes first humanitarian delivery to Donbas of 2017

MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry trucks made the first humanitarian delivery in 2017 to Donetsk and Luhansk on Tuesday, this was the 60th Russian humanitarian convoy since August 2014, the ministry's spokesman said on Tuesday.

"Twenty-six trucks have brought over 300 tonnes of humanitarian cargo to Luhansk and Donetsk. Most of the cargo is food care packages for babies younger than 12 months, such as formulas, fruit, vegetable and meat puree, milk-based porridge and fruit juice," the spokesman said, noting that the trip was uneventful and that the trucks arrived on schedule.

Trucks are being unloaded at warehouses in the presence of local self-government officials who will distribute the humanitarian aid amongst residents and socially significant facilities in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, he said.

"All trucks will go back to the Rostov region as soon as the last of them is unloaded," the spokesman said.

More than 66,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been brought to Donbas by 59 humanitarian convoys since August 2014.
