Belarus refuses to recognize DPR/LPR passports
MINSK. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Documents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, which are located in the territory of Ukraine, are not valid in the territory of Belarus, the Belarusian Interior Ministry said.
"The Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics are self-proclaimed territorial entities, and therefore documents issued by the relevant bodies of the DPR and the LPR are also invalid in the territory of the Republic of Belarus," the ministry said in a report posted on its official website on Wednesday.
At the same time, the ministry said an overwhelming majority of citizens who produce such documents fall under the Belarusian presidential Decree N420 of August 30, 2014 On the Stay of Citizens of Ukraine in the Republic of Belarus, specifically, they are exempt from the requirement to provide some documents needed for making a decision on the issuance of residence permits in the republic.
The Interior Ministry said that, in situations of entry into Belarus from the territory of Russia "by citizens on DPR and LPR documents, interior affairs bodies at the initial stage conduct identification procedures, after which decisions are made on the possibility of further stay in the Republic of Belarus individually, depending on the life situation."
