Moscow sees supplies of Russian weapons to Iraq as important factor in fight against ISIL
MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Supplies of Russian weapons to Baghdad and Iraqi Kurdistan improve their combat potential in the fight against ISIL (banned in Russia), Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian deputy foreign minister, special presidential representative for the Middle East and African countries and a high-ranking Russian diplomat, said on Monday.
"Supplies of Russian weapons and military hardware to Baghdad strengthen the Iraqi armed forces' combat capability. We are also helping Iraqi Kurdistan," Bogdanov said at the conference 'The Middle East: When Will Tomorrow Come?' held by the Valdai Discussion Club in Moscow.
Moscow "is working closely with the Iraqis in fighting ISIL, both in Iraq itself and in neighboring Syria," he said.
"The work of the four-party information center involving the military of Iraq, Russia, and also Syria and Iran, is aimed at attaining these objectives," Bogdanov said.
