Middle Eastern countries to discuss war on terrorism, extremism in Baku
BAKU. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The incumbent and former foreign ministers of some Middle Eastern countries will convene at the V Global Baku Forum in Baku in March to discuss methods of the anti-terrorist fight, the Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with Diaspora said in a report.
"The diplomats will discuss the prospective development of international relations and the creation of unions for their regulation, as well as the fight against terrorism and extremism, the future of trans-Atlantic relations, and other global problems," it said.
The Middle Eastern countries will be represented at the V Global Baku Forum in Baku on March 16-17 by Libyan Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Dairi and former foreign ministers Amr Moussa of Egypt, Hikmet Cetin of Turkey and Manouchehr Mottaki of Iran.
"This is the first time Iran will be attending the Global Baku Forum," the committee said.
The forum is titled 'Future of foreign relations: Power and interests'. It will address the future of trans-Atlantic relations, the war on terrorism, China's role in international relations, the future of Europe, threats to international security and the threats of populism and extremism.
The event will also be attended by the presidents, former presidents and prime ministers of some countries, in addition to acclaimed politicians and community leaders, among them Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis, Albanian President Bujar Nishani, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, and Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili.
