Russian diplomat, Tunisian tourism minister discuss tourist safety in Tunisia
MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The Russian president's special representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Tunisian Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Selma Elloumi Rekik have discussed ensuring the safety of tourists in Tunisia and the development of tourism.
"The conversation covered the issues of further strengthening traditionally friendly Russian-Tunisian relations, with an emphasis on development of tourism cooperation. In this context, the parties exchanged views on the current situation in Tunisia, including in light of the measures being taken by the Tunisian leadership to ensure the safety of foreign citizens staying in the country," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
"Selma Elloumi Rekik thanked Russia for providing support in this important sector of the Tunisian economy," the statement says.
