Gazprom lays quarter of Power of Siberia, one-third welded, 600 km planned for 2017

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Gazprom as of February 1, had laid 490 km of the Power of Siberia trunk gas pipeline to China, s presentation for the company's Investors Day in Singapore said.

At the end of December the company disclosed information on the completion of 445 km, meaning that the company built 45 km in January or roughly 1.5 km a day.

From this data, it can be concluded that Gazprom will have built over 500 km by the end of February. The total length of the route is 2,158 km.

The company also said that at the start of February, 699 km of pipe had been wielded.

"The plan for 2017 envisages the construction of over 600 km of the gas pipeline," Gazprom management board member, Oleg Aksyutin, said during the presentation.

According to the contract between Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), supplies via the pipeline should start in the period between May 2019 and May 2021, the company said.

"Over time, the said window will narrow, bringing more certainty," Aksyutin said in spoken comments for the presentation.
