Some governors who have resigned recently were involved in electoral violations - Pamfilova
MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - Some of the recent resignations of governors were connected to violations during election campaigns, Russian Central Elections Commission Chairperson Ella Pamfilova said.
Responding to a question from journalists as to whether any of the governors who have resigned were "on the Central Elections Commission list" for violations during election campaigns, Pamfilova said: "Yes. And I hope there will be more."
She did not give any specific names. "My colleagues and I are interested in results, not boasting and cheap PR. There is no need for it," Pamfilova said.
During a meeting of the Russian Central Elections Commission on Wednesday, Pamfilova said the Russian Central Elections Commission will work to ensure that high-ranking regional officials involved in violations during election campaigns bear responsibility.
