DPR, LPR nationalize enterprises with Ukrainian jurisdiction under pretense of external management - Kyiv

KYIV. March 1 (Interfax) - The introduction by Donetsk and Luhansk of external management of Donbas enterprises with Ukrainian jurisdiction is nothing but nationalization, Ukraine's envoy to the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group and Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada First Deputy Speaker Iryna Herashchenko said.

"Representatives of the certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk said that a 'temporary administration' has been introduced at Ukrainian enterprises in the occupied territories; they shyly refer to the nationalization of Ukrainian property this way," Gerashchenko said on her Facebook page following a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group's humanitarian subgroup in Minsk on Wednesday.

The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics said earlier that external management was introduced at enterprises with Ukrainian jurisdiction located in the territory of the Donbas republics at 12.00 a.m. on March 1.

Several major plants and dozens of mines maintaining Ukrainian jurisdiction are currently operating in the self-proclaimed republics. In particular, the Yenakiieve Metallurgical Plant and the Khartsyzk Pipe Plant affiliated with the Metinvest group and the Yasynuvata and Makiivka coke plants and the Donetsk Metallurgy Plant affiliated with the Donetsksteel group operate in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). Over 20 mines, the major one being Zasyadko Coal Mine, are also active in the DPR.

In turn, in the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic, Metinvest's PJSC Krasnodonvugillya and the Alchevsk Metallurgical Complex, as well as coal mines of DTEK company's LLC Rovenky Antratsit and LLC Sverdlovsk Antratsit, are operating.
