U.S. national security advisor may come to Syria talks in Astana - U.S. expert
MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - U.S. officials are likely to participate in the next round of the talks on Syria in the Kazakh capital Astana, and the U.S. president's National Security Advisor Herbert McMaster may come to this meeting, U.S. expert for Syria, retired Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely said.
"Yes, I think they will have representatives there, maybe from the White House, which could be the National Security advisor, the new one - General McMaster," Vallely said in an interview with Interfax.
"It could be a representative from State Department, the new [U.S. Secretary of State] Rex Tillerson's [team]," he said.
The United States took part in the previous two rounds of talks in Astana in an observer capacity, and its delegation to the meetings was led by U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan George Krol.
