Charges of breaching rules of stay brought against some of Russians detained in Sri Lanka - Russian embassy
MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka remains in close contact with the country's migration service to release the Russian citizens who have been detained.
"On the account of information circulated by media, we report that the embassy is in close contact with the Sri Lankan migration service to address the situation and release the detained persons," the embassy said on Facebook.
Media said earlier that nine Russian citizens were detained in Sri Lanka.
"Charges of breaching the rules of staying in the country were brought against some of the Russians. Following the required checks carried out by the Sri Lankan authorities, the embassy will seek release of all persons detained without valid reasons," the embassy said.
