Syria's Palmyra freed with help from Russian Special Operations Forces units
MOSCOW. March 5 (Interfax) - Russian Special Operations Forces units were involved in the liberation of Palmyra, Col. Gen. Andrei Kartapolov, Commander of the Russian military group in Syria, said.
"I would like to particularly note the actions of our Aerospace Forces of Russia, who left the adversary without possibility to maneuver and timely deliver the reserves; the actions of Russian Armed Forces' Special Operations Forces units who were conducting reconnaissance and destroying most critical installations," Kartapolov said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.
Syrian army units also fought bravely during the liberation of Palmyra, the general said.
